HIGH-ENERGY LASER SHOCK AT THE TIP OF A FIBER

Transmission of class IV pulsed laser beams through optical fibers is much safer and more
adapted to industrial operations than free space propagation.

This is why we started developing the LightPanther technology since 2017 with industry 4.0
in mind. Our team of engineers has brought together advanced skills in optical design,
laser physics, software, electronics and mechanical engineering to overcome a steep
learning curve in mastering the many technical challenges at such high-energy levels.

LightPanther: High-Energy Fiber-Delivered Laser Platform

The LightPanther is a unique nanosecond laser platform capable of injecting high energies into standard optical fibers. This innovative architecture enables the industrial integration of demanding processes such as Laser Shock Peening (LSP) or laser cleaning into systems that are more compact, flexible, and robust than conventional laser solutions.

Applications

Laser Cleaning

LSP is an advanced surface treatment process that uses high-energy nanosecond laser pulses to generate mechanical shock waves within materials. These shock waves induce deep compressive residual stresses, significantly improving fatigue resistance, stress corrosion cracking resistance, and the service life of critical components.  Thanks to its fiber-delivered architecture, LightPanther simplifies the integration of LSP into complex industrial environments, offering greater flexibility and easier implementation.

Laser Shock Peening

Laser cleaning selectively removes oxides, paint, coatings, and contaminants using laser pulses, without contact, chemicals, or abrasive processes.

The high-energy nanosecond pulses delivered by the LightPanther enable rapid and controlled ablation, while minimizing the overall thermal impact on the part and preserving the substrate’s properties. This process ensures precise, reproducible, and surface-friendly cleaning.
